ACTIVE ELEMENT
Ambroxol:
reduces mucus viscosity and dyspnea symptoms
MECHANISM OF ACTION
Ambroxol: decomposes mucopolysaccharide (but does not split disulfide bond of antibody)
Produces surfactant in lung epithelium, helps in mucolytic and gaseous exchange.
INDICATIONS
Reduces mucus viscosity in treatment of loose cough
ADVANTAGE
In comparison with N-acetyl cystein: ambroxol does not
split disulfide bond of antibody, enhances the absorption of antibiotics
In comparison with bromhexine: ambroxol produces surfactant, combines with blood protein fewer.
